This special marked the television debut of the Care Bear Family in 1983. It features the Care Bear Family with villian, Professor Cold Heart. One of only two Care Bears specials made by former Canadian company, Atkinson Film-Arts. Since American Greetings and Kenner Toys were not satisfied with Atkinson's work, production of future animated installments was soon transferred to DiC Entertainment and (more famously) another Canadian studio, Nelvana.
