Welcome to the Kingdom of Caring, home of the Care Bears and Care Bear Cousins.

T.V. Specials

The Care Bears and Care Bear Cousins got their animation start with two television specials before getting their own regularly airing cartoon series.

The Land Without Feelings

This special marked the television debut of the Care Bear Family in April of 1983. It features the Care Bear Family with villian, Professor Cold Heart. One of only two Care Bears specials made by former Canadian company, Atkinson Film-Arts. Since American Greetings and Kenner Toys were not satisfied with Atkinson's work, production of future animated installments was soon transferred to DiC Entertainment and (more famously) another Canadian studio, Nelvana.

Battle the Freeze Machine

Premiering in 1984, this 30 minute television special marked the second and last Care Bears special to be produced by the former Canadian company, Atkinson Film-Arts. Since American Greetings and Kenner Toys were not satisfied with Atkinson's work, production of future animated installments was soon transferred to DiC Entertainment and (more famously) another Canadian studio, Nelvana.

It was directed by Pino Van Lamsweerde.

The special was released on dvd as an addition to the 25th Anniversary edition of the Care Bears Movie on March 20, 2007. However it was released as the syndicated version, not the original broadcast version.

The special also introduced the world to the twins, Hugs and Tugs, as well as Grams Bears. Frostbite was also introduced as Professor Cold Heart's sidekick.

The Nutcracker Suite

Premiering in December 10, 1988, the Nutcracker Suite was originally designed to be a theatrical release but due to the financial failure of The Care Bears Adventure in Wonderland in 1987, it premiered on television instead. It originally aired on Disney Channel in the USA and was then broken down into 3 segments and aired as a "To Be Continued" Series on the cartoon. It is approximately 61 minutes long.
